This is my current unix / Solaris workstation. Over the past 10 years it's
been my favorite system! The machine has two 9G hard disc drives, One has
Solaris 10 installed, and the other has BSD.
Over the past year or so the system has started having a few issues. Possibly
due to the drives getting a few bad-blocks, I'll get the system on the bench
and give it a good service soon, and I have some spare larger drive that will be
fitted at the same time.
I've recently picked-up a BLADE 1000 which will ultimately replace this system.

There's an interesting story attached to this system. When I was offered the
system I had to collect it straight away, so I got in the car in the morning
and began the drive from north Kent to west London near Heathrow Airport.
The journey was just over 60 Miles in each direction so it would be an easy
trip. BUT the clutch cable on my Citroen Xantia snapped half way there when I
was driving through south London. With no choice but Get there or loose the
system I drove the rest of the way there and all the way back without using the
clutch on my car!
For anyone who knows about such things knows that this was no easy task.
Stop-start driving through south London traffic was done by turning off the
ignition and breaking, to stop. and selecting first-gear and re-starting to get
going again. Gear-Changes were by dabbing the trottle and changing into neutral
and getting the enging running at the right speed before popping the gear into
the next ratio.... Certainly a challenge !
